Sheffield's Kell Brook has decided to give up his British welterweight title, presumably to free him up to make an assault on world honours.
Brook won the Lonsdale outright in a 13-month burst which saw him win the vacant title in June 2008, administering a one-sided beating to brave Barrie Jones before defending against Kevin McIntyre (RSF 1), Stuart Elwell (RSF 2) and finally Michael Lomax (RSF 3).
Last month, Brook hammered Polish clam impersonator Krzysztof Bienias to win a fringe WBO title, giving him their number one ranking and presumably a direct shot at a world belt of some description (Manny Pacquiao is their 'Super Champion').
The BBBoC says that John O'Donnell and Michael Jennings are set to square off for the vacant British title before the end of July.
